LIP FILLER
Lip size, volume and proportion are possible to change with the injection of dermal filler, which is a popular low risk procedure with minimal downtime.
Naturally thin or aging lips, a flat cupid's bow, asymmetry, “bar code” or “smoker lines" are all issues that can be addressed with a range of dermal fillers and advance injection techniques that we offer at our clinic. The treatment will be customized for your unique lips and to your individual concerns.
In the highly dynamic lip area, in addition to the appropriate injection technique, the choice of dermal fillers that can accompany and respect natural lip movements is extremely important in order to achieve natural looking results.

In order to create aesthetically appealing natural-looking lips your practitioner has to understand your view, do a proper assessment, have an artistic eye and know anatomy of this area.
First of all, we always start with a consultation. The proper detailed assessment of your current lip condition, dentition, gums and other facial features is important to develop a strategy for your treatment. Remember that lip shape depends a lot on the supporting structures like teeth, gums and jaw bones.
After that, our doctor will take pictures and assess the facial proportions and current lip size and projection. Absolute lip size is not that important as how that size is relation to the rest of the facial features. Assessment of the vermilion border (white roll around the lips) and phyltrum (the natural vertical columns above the upper lip) also important in planning the injection.
Also, a crucial part of the initial discussion is to review your expectations and perception of a beautiful lips since there are so many variations. Do you like flat (like Julia Robert's) or pronounced cupid bow (like Taylor Swift's or Kylie Jenner's), upper and lower lip ratio 1:1 like Rihanna's or 1:2 of Angelina Jolie's, wider or more round lips? Though there are a lot of trends in preferred lip shape, not every face will look well with it. And trends keep changing!
The final step is to decide on the amount type of filler to be used to achieve the plump and kissable lips you dream about. There are a few options to choose from and our doctor will advise you on the best one to achieve the most natural results.

Frequently asked questions
How long does the procedure take?
The dermal filler injection for lips takes about 20-30 min. However, if it is done at the same time as an initial consultation, it may require up to 1 hour, depending on the complexity of the treatment. Topical anesthetic cream will be applied also prior to the procedure to make you feel more comfortable during the injections.

Are lip injections painful?
Despite the application of topical anesthetic cream, you may still feel pin pricks. The vermillion border area is the most sensitive around the lip area. If your provider chooses a cannula (blunt long needle), there is less pain because there are fewer skin penetration points. However, cannula is not suitable for all lip injections. In addition, majority of dermal fillers come mixed with Lidocaine which is a numbing agent that makes the procedure even more comfortable.
How long will the lip filler last?
The lip area is most unpredictable in terms of how long results will last. It is a highly dynamic area and the longevity will depend on many factors, such as the chosen product, your metabolism, and age.
What is the best filler for my lips?
The choice of lip filler will depend on many factors, such as the original size and shape of your own lips, the desired degree of the enhancement, your age and even the injection technique that is appropriate for your case. You should find a provider who is experienced and knows how to choose the best product for you. There are lot of quality brands of dermal fillers on the market, but to find a provider who you can trust is more important in order to achieve the best results.
How to prepare for the lip filler injection?
In order minimize risk of bruises you should avoid any medications or supplements that carry blood thinner properties, such as Aspirin, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents (Advil, Naproxen, Ibuprofen, Tramadol), Ginkgo Biloba, high doses of Vitamin E and Omega 3, or regular consumption of Turmeric, Ginger and grape seed extract.
Patients with history of cold sores may require an antiviral prophylactic treatment which is started prior to the procedure. Our doctor can give you a prescription to start it 2-3 days before the injection.
It is generally advised to avoid alcohol and consumption of salty foods a few days prior to any aesthetic treatment involving injections in order to decrease the risk of swelling and bruises.
How much does the lip filler treatment cost?
The price for the lip filler in our clinic varies between 500$ to 550$ per syringe depending on the product chosen. You may require 2 or more syringes in order to achieve significant enhancement if you start with very thin lips. In case you need more than 1 syringe, we suggest spacing treatments 3-4 weeks apart in order for the lips to stretch and adapt to the new volume and achieve more natural and aesthetically pleasing results.
What should I do or avoid after the lip injections?
With a prior history of cold sores you may be required to take a few days of prophylactic antiviral oral medication.
As with any dermal filler treatments you should avoid massaging the area as this could potentially lead to displacement of the filler. Do not do hot yoga or use a sauna for a couple of weeks.
Again, avoid alcohol and salty foods for a few days in order to minimize swelling.

There are a few types of lip issues, such as M-shaped lips and "gummy smile" that require a more complex approach. In those cases neuromodulators (Botox, Xeomin, Nuceiva) need to be used in conjunction with dermal fillers. Sometimes two or more sessions of the filler injection may be required. You are welcome to book your a free consultation with our doctor in order to discuss your concerns and a suitable treatment plan.
Delay any dental treatment for at least 2 weeks before and after the treatment in order to decrease the risk of infectious complications, since any dental work is associated with the temporary circulation of bacteria in your blood.
